The Disappointment Cleaver route starts at Paradise (5,400 ft). Climb to Camp Muir (10,188 ft) on day one via the Muir Snowfield. The summit push begins around midnight, crossing the Cowlitz Glacier to Cathedral Gap. Ascend Ingraham Glacier, navigate the Disappointment Cleaver rock band, then continue up the Emmons/Ingraham Glacier. Cross the crater rim to Columbia Crest (true summit). Technical glacier skills, rope team travel, and crevasse rescue knowledge required.
This route requires advanced mountaineering skills. Proper equipment and experience are essential.
