Lupine Meadows Trailhead, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA
From Lupine Meadows (6,732 ft), hike to the Lower Saddle (11,600 ft) via Garnet Canyon - typically a camp spot. The Owen-Spalding route climbs from the saddle, ascending the Needle/Exum Ridge junction area. Navigate the exposed Eye of the Needle, climb the Owen Chimney, then traverse the Crawl to the summit block. Multiple 5th class pitches require roped climbing. The Upper Exum Ridge is a popular technical alternative. Climbing experience essential.
This route requires advanced mountaineering skills. Proper equipment and experience are essential.
