Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan
The Yoshida Trail is most popular. Take a bus to the 5th Station (2,300m). The route climbs through volcanic terrain past numbered stations with huts offering rest and supplies. Most climbers start evening/night to reach the summit for sunrise (Goraiko). The 8th Station area is congested during peak season. The final section to the crater rim is steep loose volcanic rock. Circuit the crater to visit the true summit and post office. Official climbing season is July-August.
