Machame Gate, Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania
The Machame Route starts at the rainforest gate (1,800m). Trek through lush rainforest to Machame Camp, then ascend through moorland to Shira Camp. Continue to the Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. Navigate the famous Barranco Wall, then traverse to Karanga and Barafu camps. The summit push begins at midnight, ascending through the scree to Stella Point on the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak.
