Sani Pass or Mokhotlong, Drakensberg Mountains, Lesotho
Africa's highest peak south of Kilimanjaro. Access via Sani Pass from South Africa (4WD required) or from Mokhotlong. From Sani Top, hike across the high-altitude plateau following GPS waypoints - navigation skills essential as trails are faint. The route crosses grasslands at 3000m+ with possible river crossings. The summit is a gentle rise on the plateau. Weather can be severe any time of year. Local guides available from Sani Mountain Lodge. Altitude affects many visitors.
