La Joya Trailhead, Paso de Cortés, Mexico
Start from La Joya parking area (3,980m). Follow the well-worn trail across the volcanic sand flats toward the mountain. Ascend through the alpine zone to the Refugio at the Knees. Continue climbing to the Belly, then traverse across to the Chest. The final technical section requires scrambling up rocky terrain with possible snow/ice to reach the Pecho (true summit). Return the same way or traverse the full mountain.
